Windflow Browser Control (Chrome extension) · Last updated June 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Windflow Browser Control Chrome extension (the “Extension”) handles your information. The Extension is a companion to the Windflow desktop application and lets Windflow browse and operate web pages on your behalf, inside a dedicated tab group, with your authorization.

The short version

  • The Extension does not send your data to Windflow’s servers or to any third party.
  • It communicates only with the Windflow desktop application installed on your own device, over Chrome’s local native messaging channel.
  • We do not sell or rent your data. We do not show ads.

What the Extension accesses

To carry out the actions you ask Windflow to perform, the Extension may access:

  • Page content and the DOM of pages Windflow operates on (text, form fields, links, and similar), so it can read context and take actions such as clicking, typing, and scrolling.
  • Tab and window information (such as tab titles and URLs) for the tabs Windflow opens or that you ask it to inspect, so it can manage its dedicated tab group and report status back to you.
  • Local configuration (such as session and tab-group state), stored locally in the browser via the Chrome storage API.

How that information is used

The Extension passes this information to the Windflow desktop application running on the same device, over Chrome’s native messaging channel, solely to perform the tasks you request. The Extension itself does not transmit your data off your device, and it does not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating your browser on your behalf.

Any further processing performed by the Windflow desktop application (for example, when it acts on the content of a page) is carried out by that application on your device and is governed by Windflow’s application terms.

Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • tabs, tabGroups, windows — open and manage Windflow’s working tabs in a dedicated tab group, and read tab titles/URLs to report status.
  • scripting — perform the interactions you request on a page (clicking, filling, reading the DOM).
  • nativeMessaging — communicate with the Windflow desktop application; this is the only channel the Extension uses to receive commands and return results.
  • host permissions (all sites) — because you may ask Windflow to work on any website; the Extension acts only on the relevant pages while carrying out your task.
  • storage — persist local configuration such as session and tab-group state.
  • alarms — periodically reconnect the native-messaging channel after the service worker sleeps, to keep the connection stable.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or transfer your data to third parties. The Extension shares data only with the Windflow desktop application on your own device, as described above.

Data retention and your choices

Local configuration stored by the Extension remains in your browser until you clear it or remove the Extension. Uninstalling the Extension removes its locally stored data. You remain in control of which pages Windflow may act on.

Children

The Extension is not directed to children and is not intended for use by children under the age required by applicable law.
